Welcome to Outdoor Care

If you’re reading this, you might be thinking about coming to live at Outdoor Care. We know that moving into a new home can feel worrying, confusing or even a little scary. That’s completely normal.

What is Outdoor Care Like?

Outdoor Care is a small, friendly home for up to two young people aged 8 to 18 years.

We want our home to feel like a place where you can relax, be yourself and feel comfortable. You’ll have your own bedroom, places to spend time with staff or other young people, and opportunities to take part in activities that you enjoy.

Our staff are here 24 hours a day to support you, whether you need someone to talk to, help with schoolwork or simply someone to listen.

Our job is to help you feel safe, welcome and supported from the moment you arrive. At Outdoor Care, we believe every young person deserves to feel safe and nurtured. These aren’t just words to us, they’re how we work every day.

Getting to Know You

Everyone is different, and we want to get to know you as an individual. We’ll spend time finding out about:

  • The things you enjoy.
  • What you’re good at.
  • Your hopes and goals.
  • Anything you’re worried about.
  • How we can best support you.

Your views and opinions matter, and we’ll always encourage you to have your say.

School, Hobbies and Having Fun

We’ll support you to attend school or college and help you achieve your goals.

We also believe life should be enjoyable. We’ll encourage you to take part in activities that interest you, such as sports, boxing, football, going to the gym, gaming, music, arts and crafts, days out or trying something completely new.

If there’s something you’ve always wanted to do, we’ll do our best to help make it happen.

Your Family and the People Who Matter to You

We understand how important family and the people you care about can be. Where it’s agreed as part of your care plan, we’ll support you to keep in touch with your family and other important people in your life. We’ll always work with your Social Worker to make sure these arrangements are right for you.

If something is worrying you, we'll always listen and help you find a solution.

Your Voice Matters

This is your home too.

We’ll ask for your ideas and opinions about:

  • Activities you’d like to do.
  • Meals and shopping.
  • Decorating your bedroom.
  • House meetings.
  • How we can make Outdoor Care an even better place to live.
